Buy a drink, support a cause

Mapleville 12-year-old Ben St. Pierre will hold his annual lemonade stand on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at his home at 90 Maureen Circle. The event will include cookies and treats available for sale, as well as face painting. Proceeds will go to the Burrillville Animal Shelter. Learn more about the event here. 

Concert and a movie

Catch the latest performance in the Riverwalk Times Concert Series. Whiskey Rhode, a rock & roll dance band playing classic and contemporary rock, rhythm & blues and country, will play on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

After the concert, head over to the Assembly Theatre for an 8:15 p.m. showing of the hit movie The Incredibles, on the big screen for just $5.

BBQ grand opening

Johnny’s Victory Diner – formerly Monty’s – will host the grand reopening of Johnny’s BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 11 until 8 p.m. Enjoy tasty barbecue creations prepared by the restaurant’s new owners, the Hanaway family. Learn more about Johnny’s here.

Music on the Farm

Grace Note Farm at 969 Jackson Schoolhouse Road will host Catherine Psarkis a soprano singing My Favorite Arias and more at a concert on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. Tickets for Music at the Farm cost $20, or $10 for students, and are available at the door or in advance here.

Mini golf meets politics

The Burrillville Democrats will host their annual Family Mini Golf Tournament at Oakley’s Restaurant on Victory Highway from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12. 

The event costs $20 per person, and comes with a round of golf and lunch. Children 12 and under are free. 

Car show

The Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club will host its third annual custom bike, car and truck show on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 10:30 to noon.

The event will include food, music, raffles, a beer tent and a burnout pit. It is a kid/family-friendly event with face painting, bounce houses, a rock wall and a dunk tank. General Admission to the event costs $5.
